What is the most famous chocolate bar made from coconut?

Today is World Coconut Day and here at UKVending we decided that it was a perfect opportunity to look at one of those chocolate bars that sometimes finds it’s way into vending machines, but more often than not is overlooked. Indeed last Christmas Mars who makes Bounty Bars decided to produce their Celebrations tubs without including any Bounty Bars at all after a survey said that 33 per cent of people who bought the tubs listed them as their least favourite miniature chocolate bar.

Whether or not you like the taste of coconut enrobed in either milk or dark chocolate the Bounty Bar has an interesting history. Introduced jointly in the United Kingdom and Canada in 1951, the Bounty Bar is a direct copy of the US Mounds Bar of 1936.

Over the years there have been several distinctive taste varieties including Mango, Pineapple and Cherry flavours.
