Uncork a bottle of coffee wine!
It’s often been said that modern life in the Western world couldn’t happen without two things…hot coffee and wine. Both are delicious and satisfying but did you know that there is such a thing as coffee wine?
Yes. Good wine, it is said, must be made from the very finest grapes, but then being a bit snobby is all part of the wine industry. There are literally thousands of examples of excellent fruit wines based on strawberries, blackberries, peaches and even pineapples. Added to that you can include some nuts too including coconuts. Essentially, winemaking requires a flavour to be added to the fermented sugar that makes up most of the wine. So, why not coffee?
In an area north of Manila in the Philippines, a country famed for its coffee production, there is a process that takes a sweetened cold brew coffee mixture to which is added a mixture of yeasts, enzymes and acids before being left to ferment in the traditional wine fashion.
