UK’s changing tea habits
Us Brits do like tea, it has tradition stamped through it. The whole world could be falling apart but us British will always find something to believe in when it comes to a nice cuppa, or do we? Here at UKVending we have discovered that in recent polls the nation’s taste buds have been turning, transforming the traditional dynamic on its head.
The pollsters Mintel recently conducted a survey to determine emerging and future trends in tea drinking and the results were fascinating. They expect us to drink less tea overall in 2017 than in previous years but we will still have consumed something in the order of 75million kilograms by the end of this year alone.
Black Tea is still the standout leader of the pack with over 75 percent of respondents saying it was their tea of choice. Coffee and soft drinks continue to nibble away at tea’s dominance as the nation’s favourite drink especially amongst young adults and teenagers. The most surprising news from the research was that people aged between 25 and 34 did not stick with one type of tea. They experimented with five or six different types whereas their elders had their favourite teas and stuck with them excluding all others. The same age split was apparent in the data when it came to herbal teas with the young preferring them and the over 55’s choosing to avoid them.
Here at UKVending we offer our customers a wide range of teas from our vending machines. If you’d like to try something other than your regular tea, why not give one of our team a call and be a little experimental.
