Today is World Water Day
Around the world there is a disparity. Those with plentiful supplies of water where people are wasteful with this precious resource and others where they are literally crying out for water to keep themselves alive. World Water Day 2021 is about water and climate change – and how the two are inextricably linked. Adapting to the water effects of climate change will protect health and save lives. Using water more efficiently will reduce greenhouse gases from treatment systems.
The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on December 22, 1992, declaring March 22 to be the World Day for Water each year. Countries were encouraged to develop activities to highlight local needs for water.
Around the world there is a growing need for better and safer water supplies and World Water Day 2021 is designed to showcase the best of these projects but also to highlight that much more needs to be done.
