The surprising news about glaucoma and drinking tea
If you’re having problems with your eyesight the old advice was to eat a carrot and see in the dark, well perhaps you should forget the bunny’s favourite treat and stick with a nice hot cup of tea instead. According to new research drinking tea regularly gives improved vision in those suffering with glaucoma type symptoms.
Drinking just one cup of caffeinated tea a day could lower a person’s risk of developing the condition. The study found that amongst those people drinking tea they were 74 percent less likely to be diagnosed with glaucoma than those who didn’t drink tea. The results were published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology.
Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of sight loss around the world and develops when pressure builds within the eye itself. The pressure then damages the optic nerve and sight loss or even blindness ensues.
