Tea in Paris for Christmas…sacre bleu!
The French have never really caught onto the joys of tasting a fine freshly brewed cup of tea! Well perhaps they have as this Christmas time Paris could be the place to go to enjoy one of the best tea experiences of the winter.
Travellers to the French capital city can sample some of the Esprit De Noël this season from Mariage Freres in a number of tea parlors and tea parties. It’s now 30 years since these tea parties were first introduced and the predominant flavour is a popular black tea with mandarin orange, cinnamon, almond and Bourbon vanilla.
Christmas Eve marks the festive meal of le Réveillon, taken from the verb reveiller which means to wake up. Your French host will bring out Yule log that decorates a table of foie gras, oysters, snails with turkey or goose stuffed with chestnuts. Everyone will drink fine wine with their meal and the delicious tea follows.
