Stay hydrated: – drink more water
Half of us don’t drink enough water daily to keep our bodies healthy and functioning properly.
That is the startling conclusion of a recent study into British drinking habits. Despite the sweltering temperatures during the summer we still have to learn how much a human body relies on water to keep it correctly hydrated. Most of us freely admit to not knowing how much is the right amount of water to consume and of those that answered a recent survey a quarter said they struggled to increase their intake during periods of warm weather. Furthermore 51 percent said they rarely drink water unless it’s mixed with something else.
The survey was conducted by British Summer Fruits – who supply all but 5 percent of berries to UK supermarkets – and spoke to 2000 UK adults for the survey. Alarmingly some adults go without any plain water for days at a stretch. Most, 9 in 10, used squash for cordial to flavour their water, whilst 23 percent chose fizzy drinks to stay hydrated.
