How to stop tea stains on your tablecloth
If you’ve got one of our great vending machines that produces delicious perfectly brewed tea you won’t experience that annoying experience of nasty brown stains when you accidently spill tea brewed in a teapot. But, if you must insist on using a traditional teapot to brew your tea, scientists now have found a solution to your tea stain problems, yes they really have invested scientific time and money to find out how to avoid bothersome stains.
Scientists looking into this problem have come up with a simple, yet clever, solution. They insist that tea brewed in a teapot must be poured without delay, while it is very hot – about 80 degrees C. This they say will almost always prevent drips. Hotter liquids are less ‘sticky’ and are therefore less likely to get left behind and dribble down the teapot. The research was carried out by Austria’s University of Vienna and University College London and was published in the respected Journal of Fluid Mechanics.
