What would you make of it if you ordered your coffee and a few minutes later it was delivered to your desk by remote control drone?
Yes coffee via drone!
This isn’t as farfetched as it sounds as Costa this week announced that it had successfully tested what it has called its ‘coffeecopter’. Admittedly it hasn’t yet been developed into a system where office workers can see drones flying through their company’s main entrance, up stairs and delivering to your desk, but it has proved successful on the wide open, and admittedly much safer environment of a Dubai beach. Beachgoers in the trials placed orders to one of the chain’s cafes via mobile phone and paid using cashless technology. Their drinks were then flown to them and delivered within 15 minutes.
A British firm is behind the ‘coffeecopter’ and 82 percent of the customers in the United Arab Emirates said that they would consider using the drone delivery system in the future. The drones appear to offer the ultimate delivery system for those sunbathers who simply don’t want to move from their sun loungers.
