Guilt free chocolate with 40% less sugar

Barry-Callebaut

Have you ever been put off from eating chocolate because you think it is loaded with sugar? Well now your dream chocolate has just been created. Reaching for that chocolate bar could also mean dropping a dress size too. The world’s first healthy chocolate has recently been unveiled.

Typically, only the seeds or beans of the cacao tree’s fruit have been used to make cocoa and chocolate, but now a Swiss company has created a new type of treat which will also use the fruit’s flesh and skin to create a completely different flavour.

Cacao fruit is high in fibre, vitamins and minerals but the new version also contains 40 percent less natural sugar than dark and milk and about 25 percent more protein. The new product has been developed by the firm Barry Callebaut, which caused a stir in 2017 when it introduced a pink Ruby chocolate to join the conventional dark, milk and white varieties.
