UK Vending has reduced waste to landfill by 50% in 2008 adn in 2009.

We recycle ALL our cardboard, paper, used light tubes, plastic, paper cups, Flavia filter packs, ink cartridges, batteries and filters.

In 2007 we used several bins each week. By 2008 we used only one bin.
That's a 50% reduction in our waste. Through 2009 we maintained the continuing reduction making more of less - or perhaps less of more. In any case we achieved our objective - we remain a good neighbour to our customers, our staff and the world.

REDUCING OUR ENERGY
UKV has reduced our electric usage by 60% in 2008 and kept reducing it through 2009.

In May 2008 we installed insulation in the office ceiling. By using more natural light we found we could do without 25% of the lights. We put clock timers on all equipment. We took all sorts of sensible measures that have saved 60% of what we would have previously consumed. In 2009 we installed wireless monitoring of our power consumption and found we could still improve and save waste - so we did.

In June 2008 we introduced an new IT system to sent your invoices and statement by email, reducing our paper by 1 ton and 10,000 post miles and all that fuel to get it to you. In 2009 we refined our procedures so even more communications with our customers and suppliers do not rely on paper and delivery of paper and packaging.

In July 2008 we further reduced paper by introducing electronic signatures for delivery document which are available on-line within minutes for you to see or download a copy. Our online ordering processes and shop continued our savings and efficiency.

From August 2008 we aimed to reduce our delivery mileage by 25% by making our delivery routes more efficient. We did it - and throughout 2009 we took off another 15% of our vans mileage and fuel consumption.

UKV now recycles all it Flavia Filter Packs and paper cups which are collected by the Save-A-Cup recycling scheme. More Information
